Is it a geisha or a maiko?
Either, depending on availability. A maiko is an apprentice and wears the more elaborate dress; a geisha is fully trained. Both spend the same two hours with you.
Do we actually talk to her, or just watch?
You talk. That is the point of the format. Your guide interprets throughout, so the conversation runs properly rather than through gestures.
What is included in the price?
The Gion walk, the kaiseki dinner, unlimited sake, two hours with your geisha host and photographs with her. Only extra food and drinks are separate.
Can I take photographs?
Yes, with your host, inside the ryotei. Photographing maiko on the street in Gion is a different matter and is not permitted.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time. Bookings are confirmed instantly.
