The Fuji Five Lakes

Yamanakako is the largest of them and gives you the mountain across open water, with boats and space to walk. The other lakes each frame Fuji differently, and part of a private day is being able to chase whichever one is clearest that morning.

What a private van actually buys you

Two and a half hours each way is a long drive, and on a coach it is spent to someone else's schedule. In a private van you leave when you want, stop when the light is good, and go back if you missed something. For a group of three or more it often costs little more than seats on a coach.

For three or more people it is usually close, and you get the day on your own terms. For one or two, the coach is cheaper.
